House rules
creating a welcoming & healing environment for all
We started Sattva Yoga Spa because we believe that the healing, communal environment of a yoga center can bring a lot of positive change to our bodies, minds, families, communities, and planet. We ask that you keep kindness and respect front of mind when using our space so we can ensure a clean, healing environment for all.
In many cultures, it’s disrespectful to enter a house or temple with your shoes on. The custom of leaving your shoes at the door is a sign of respect. Of course, shoes also track in dirt and salt, creating an unclean environment for the whole community. With time, removing your shoes becomes a ritual that signals to your mind, "it's time for yoga now," and your nervous system becomes conditioned to relax from the moment you untie your laces.
...or smart watches ...or any other personal technology that might beep or buzz or light up during your class or service. Trust us, your experience will be so much richer if you're distraction-free. Please silence your phone when you arrive and keep it tucked away in your bag. Embrace the quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Our entire yoga center is a tranquil, reflective, community space. Some areas are designated for quiet conversation, while others are designated for complete silence. In the Silent Meditation Room, we require complete silence, all of the time. In all other areas, we encourage loving and meaningful conversations, with respect for the personal space and experience of others. Please be aware of your surroundings and mindful of the energy you bring to a space.
Our SYS community worked together to create a list of spiritual values, which they agreed would help to foster the most supportive and healing environment possible. Here's what they came up with:
Respect, Kindness, Selfless Service, Trust, Honesty, Patience, Presence, Always Assume the Best in Others
We ask that you, as a member of our community, do your best to uphold these values and hold others accountable to do the same. Create the more beautiful world we know is possible, one small action at a time.
Shower before you use the sauna and tubs. Give yourself a good scrub (with soap!). It’s important to wash the entire body to help maintain cleanliness and to remove any products (fragrances, oils, makeup, etc.) that could be harmful to the natural wood in the sauna and on the tub decks. Rinsing off after the sauna, before you use the cold plunge or hot soak, is also important. Since we get sweaty in the sauna, it’s important to use the shower to rinse away all that bodily yuck (bye toxins!) before getting in the tubs.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the spa.
Guests must be 18 years of age or older, unless accompanied by an adult.
Inappropriate or disrespectful behavior of any kind will not be tolerated in our space. Sattva Yoga Spa reserves the right to ban any customer at any time for any reason. Guests who consistently disregard our house rules & negatively impact our environment will be asked to leave.
